Three new exciting development opportunities have now been approved by the Development Consent Authority (DCA) for the Darwin CBD.
The old Ducks Nuts and BCC Cinemas sites are set to be revitalised with the DCA approving two development permits for bars with alfresco dining.
The Mitchell Street location (formerly BCC cinemas) will feature an indoor function room, leisure and recreation facilities and a band/DJ room for live music. This development will transform that area of Mitchell Street, returning it to its former days as a popular, bustling hot spot for diners and pub goers.
More Student Accommodation
A new 72 room accommodation in an eight storey block has also been given the green light to be built at Shepherd Street, which will be able to house international students.
The accommodation block will have amenities, including car parking, secure bicycle storage, common room, swimming pool and communal dining area and kitchen. Each room will contain a bed, bathroom with shower, vanity and toilet, wardrobe, dinette, kitchenette, desk and balcony. A single manager’s room for a permanent on-site manager is also provided in the block.
With development authority now granted, these projects are able to begin to move towards construction.
“The Territory is taking off, our construction industry is on the up and more people are deciding to call the Territory home.
“We are home to some of the most unique opportunities when it comes to work, business and investment, and we are seeing this reflected in our current construction projects.
“The approvals of these new developments shows our economy is on the right track – we will continue to do everything we can to make the Territory the best destination to live and work.”
